What mountain are you facing today? Are you feeling worn, tired and maybe a bit discouraged? Cling to the God of all hope. It is not in our strength that we succeed, but in realizing our weakness and instead embracing His endless and limitless strength.
I’ve compiled these verses over the last few years. Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed, weak or discouraged, I run to these truths. I pray they will encourage you today:
Deut. 31:8 “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
1 Sam 2:9-10 “For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world. He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. “It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
1 Samuel 12:16 “Now then, stand still and see this great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes!
1 Chronicles 16:11 “Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
1 Chronicles 22:13 “Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
1 Chronicles 28:20 “David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.”
Psalms 18:2 “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Proverbs 31:17,25 “She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.”
Ezech 3:9 “I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.”
Joel 3:10 “Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears.Let the weakling say, “I am strong!”
Romans 12:11-12 “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Eph. 6:10-11 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Phil 4:13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
2 Timothy 4:17 “But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.”
I love having all the verses I need right now– in one place! Truly, there is always something going on in our lives that we need God’s strength to accomplish, so thank you, thank you! For sharing your compilation. 🙂
Aww, thanks! Sometimes all we can cling to is His strength. Glad it promises to be enough.
