My Thoughts – As a mom of adult children, this book caught my attention. I remember when I thought my job as a mom ended when children turn eighteen. Now I understand the role of mom changes. They are no longer dependent on me to care for their every need. Rather, I support them through prayer, as a cheerleader, and to be a soft place for them to land when life throws a curve ball.
Praying the Scriptures for your Adult Children is a tool to help me in my new role. The book encouraged me to release my children well and be confident in God’s sovereignty over their lives. I love the prayers at the end of each chapter for both me and my children.
The book has twenty chapters, each with a topic. Some of the topics are:
- Blessing and Releasing your adult children
- Praying for a future spouse
- Praying for a job
- Praying for recovery through an addition
You could flip to a topic and pray through it, or you could read a chapter a day. I am so thankful for the prayers my mom and my mother-in-law have prayed for me throughout the years. I want to keep that legacy going. This book is a good tool, especially when struggling to know how to pray for our children.
God’s promises are true. Praying Scripture is an awesome way to settle my mind on what is true and not my emotions based on circumstances.
I recommend this book to parents who want fresh ideas of ways to pray for their adult children.

I have this book too and I agree, it is one of the best tools that I’ve used!
